I have the 2014 Escape, 1.6 Ecoboost, with 133k miles. Driving hills of WV, 60 mph uphill, 2,000 rpm and get engine light. Run diagnostic check and subsequent code for #4 misfire. Replaced plugs and coil. Now, at 40 mph, 1,500 rpm it hiccups, no engine light, and then accelerates. I relax on gas pedal and apply slow but steady pressure on gas ...I purchased used a few months ago and have been noticing a shudder/shaking/vibration while driving. It usually happens around the 40mph range and periodically after that. I have to press the gas pedal in order to get it to stop. It's almost as if the vehicle needs to down shift but it's not.3. Add a small amount of gas, not enough to downshift, and the car shudders noticeably. Car is still in warranty, and the dealer has scheduled a transmission overhaul end of March.
